Never say never.
That's probably one of the most cliché expressions, but it's a good one.
Seriously though, never in a million years would I ever think that I'd be caught dead in a jump suit. Aside from how inconvenient they seem when uh, nature calls, I just thought they were ridiculous and unflattering. Really, why would I want to wear something that looks like a onesie?
Um...
I need to stop saying that I'll "never" wear something, because eventually, I do. I said it about maxi skirts, funky hats, peplum tops, and even skinny jeans, but I always seem to get on board. When these seemingly ridiculous new styles come out, I usually just think they're not going to look good on me, or that I can't pull them off. I guess it just takes a bit of time to figure out how to make them work for me.
A few weeks ago, I was shopping at Zara and I guess I was feeling a little bit adventerous. I always get that feeling when I step into one of their stores! Their clothing and accessories are always so bold, unique, and trendy, so I feel "cool enough" to try on these sorts of pieces when I'm in the store.
I took a jumpsuit into the change-room, not expecting to like it. At first, I didn't. It looked awful! Apparently, I put it on backwards. Oops.
Honestly though, once I figured out how to wear it, I decided that it was pretty cute. It's also so different than anything I own, so that's key in justifying why I needed by buy it. Spoken like a true shopping addict, I know. Sure, it's not as easy to wear as a dress, but it's cute and totally comfortable.
Can you believe I just bought a second the other day? I'm kind of obsessed!
OUTFIT DETAILS:
Love the jumpsuit on you and how you styled it! I love how jumpsuits and rompers are so easy to throw on for summer :)
ReplyDeletefloralconstellation.com
Thank you so much! They're just as easy to throw on as any sundress!
DeleteI hear ya on the "never say never" point! That seems to happen to me all the time! For the longest time I swore I couldn't wear skinny jeans...I am wearing some right now! Oh well! And yes, I have totally come around on the jumpsuit too!

It's so funny how that is!
DeleteYou are looking good Jackie, I love it on you and your poses are cute. I think the necklace is my favorite though. Rachel xo btw- I have a giveaway on my site going on so feel free to come by and check it out/enter :) http://garaytreasures.wordpress.com/2014/06/13/classy-casual/
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks!! The necklace was such a great steal. It was literally $9! If you haven't, you need to check out Brandy Melville just for the awesome jewels!
DeleteI get the never say never thing. Inevitably I find myself wearing what was a trend two years later. Jumpsuits are like the fancy sibling to overalls and the cousin to pajamas. I haven't taken the plunge yet. You're totally rocking them! Looks like they're made for you!
ReplyDeleteYou're too funny! Trust me, I'm often late to the party. It took me about that long to get my first peplum top. I honestly don't know why!
DeleteI'm loving the layout. Also, you look fantastic in that jumpsuit and that confident smile is infectious. If I had those cool shoes and your attitude, I would try jumpsuits too; unfortunately, I feel that they drown me in material :(

Another Beautiful Thing
Thank you! I've only changed the header for now, but will be working on some other subtle changes too. That's why I didn't mention it yet...so good eye.
DeleteI think you just need to find one that fits correctly. Jump suits are like anything, so if they aren't the "right" cut, it's just not going to look good at all.
I'm totally the same! But just recently after years of denial I got on board with jeans! Seems like it's just all about the right time and right style :)
ReplyDeleteBrigita,

DeleteLove that jumpsuit on you! Some of my best outfits come from when I break out of my comfort zone and try something crazy.

Thanks Hannah :)
DeleteThat jumpsuit looks so comfy! I just like jumpsuits cause they're SO convenient! I don't need to match the top with the bottom, I'll just throw it on and I'm good to go! They're super easy to dress up and dress down too :) Although it is SUCH a pain when you need to go to the toilet, I think it's worth it ;)
ReplyDeletePhoebe | Eat. Live. Love. Repeat.
I know, I was worried about going to the washroom, but honestly, it's not that big of a deal :)
DeleteNice look! Love how you accessorized the jumpsuit!

Deletei totally get that! i used to say never in a milling years would i wear a certain piece and then boom, suddenly it's a trend and it's cool. so really, never say never is good rule! anyway i love this jumpsuit and your jacket! looks cool together!

I know, and I try not to be sucked into what's "cool," but that's when I just decide I need to have something! *sigh*
DeleteYou look awesome! x
ReplyDeleteI think this jumpsuit looks wonderful! Go you for taking a risk! You've styled it perfectly. I understand the hesitation though--I'm still a little cautious when it comes to jumpsuits. Maybe I'll be a little braver now that I have your wonderful inspiration! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, The What's In Between! xx
ReplyDeleteThe What's In Between
Honestly, it's really just a matter of going for it and making a minimal investment if you're not totally sure. I hope you give one a try if you want to :)
DeleteThat one actually looks good on you. I'm not sure I can pull it off either, but I've seen my brother's girlfriend wear it. I think for now, I'll just settle for looking at other people wear it :)
ReplyDeleteArianne
Maybe once you get a bit more "used to" the idea, you maaaay want to give one a try!
DeleteThis jumpsuit is so cute on you and in LOVE with that triangle necklace of your. Super into geometrical stuff right now.
ReplyDeletexx Sarah | Loser Girl Wins
So funny, I'm loving anything triangular right now, too. I almost bought another necklace like it the other day and had to stop myself!
DeleteThe cut of this suit is absolutely perfect for you!
ReplyDeletex Justina // abentpieceofwire.com
Thank you :)
DeleteAhh I totally understand what you mean about saying never to a trend and then getting on board later anyway. I was the exact same way about maxi dresses (and the maxi hem length in general) and I went out and bought two maxi dresses last week haha.
ReplyDeleteI think that jumpsuits were kind of high-end and outrageous when they first came out but now they're selling toned-down versions so they're much more wearable. Perhaps that's why we're gravitating towards them? This Zara one looks amazing and I can actually see that being wearable to work even (with the right styling, of course). Love how you're wearing them with those fabulous sandals!

Coffee, Prose, and Pretty Clothes
I was soooooo against maxi skirts, but sure enough, Gap had some on sale, I gave one a try, and the rest is history!
DeleteI think that once the mainstream stores start selling these trendy pieces, they really become less crazy and much easier to pull off. Not to mention, affordable!
LOVE this cool girl style on you!! I always feel adventurous at Zara too and it's such a great place to try something new and you are rocking it :)

you look amazing in them! Thats why you had to have a second one! Jumpsuits are honestly so amazing because they are so cozy and easy to wear!
ReplyDeleteEleventh & Sixteenth
You are too funny! I am also in the "never" category for jumpsuits but this one looks so cute on you :)
ReplyDeleteLove this jumpsuit! I have been really into them lately! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Such a cute romper and loving the necklace. We go through the same things too. We should probably vow to never say never as well :)

I really love this outfit! I'm not entirely on board with jumpsuits either but I'm sure if I found one I really loved, I probably would be:P
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to mention that this week is Prom Week on my blog! If you are interested, please feel free to send in pictures of you from your own prom or if you didn't have one, a picture of you in a beautiful gown you wore in the past.
