Snapshots from Israel

After a crazy 10 days in Israel and about 5 days recovering from my lack of sleep and major Jet Lag, I'm finally settling back into "real life."

Since this was a group tour, the days I was away were as jam packed as could be. It was my second time on a trip like this, and both times I felt it was a great way to get a taste of what a country or region has to offer and see things you wouldn't see on your own.

I had so much fun and met a lot of new friends along the way. We travelled to several different cities and saw many sights, but there's one day that stands out to me.

One morning, we woke up at 4am, and climbed Masada. It was a pretty tough climb, and when we were at the top, we got to watch an incredible sunrise. The sunrise alone was worth the early wake up call.

Later that day, we drove out to the Dead Sea for a swim. I always love going to the beach, and this one was really beautiful. The water was so clear, and because we had perfectly blue skies, you could see mountains in the horizon. The water was also warm, so it felt as good as it looked. It was really cool getting to float around in the water. No matter what people did, there was no way to "sink."

After our swim and a bite to eat, we drove out to the dessert and had the chance to go for a camel ride. It was essentially an exotic pony ride, but riding camels into the sunset in the middle of the dessert was amazing.

After the camel ride, we had an exotic dinner, and spent the night hanging out as a group and hanging out by a bonfire.

All and all, it was an epic day, and definitely a bit highlight from the trip!

I know that pictures speak louder than words. I took hundreds of photos when I was away, but below are some of my favourites. I have a ton of scenery pictures, but the shots I got at the markets are more playful and unique.

What's the most "exotic" place that you've ever been? Any travel plans in the near future?

  1. Wow - it sounds and looks like you had an absolutely amazing trip! I always wanted to visit the Dead Sea. I've travelled a lot, but I wouldn't consider anywhere I've been particularly exotic. My most off-the-beaten-path destination so far has been Bulgaria.

    1. Bulgaria sounds exotic to me! I don't think that's the most common place to visit, but I'm sure it was a great trip!

  3. Ha ha, the camel looks like he's grinning! What an amazing adventure! I'm so happy that you go to go. The most exotic place I've ever been is spelunking Mammoth caves with 300 tons of rock above me and only the light from my helmet. Which is more scary and fun and less exotic. I'm jealous!

    1. Don't let the grin fool you. The camels are apparently not the friendliest of animals.

Your spelunking adventure may not be "exotic," but that sounds like it must have been quite the experience. I've never done anything like that before!

  4. Beautiful photos! Seems like you had such an amazing time. Most exotic place I've been is probably Jamaica when I was 6... So I don't remember much! I definitely want to travel more soon :)

    1. Thank you so much :)

The problem with travelling is that it really makes you want to do more of it...
