Can't Beat Black

It's still one month until Christmas, but it already feels like it's January outside. I'm not impressed, Mother Nature. Not impressed at all!

I had dinner plans on Saturday night, and thought nothing of the drive to get to the restaurant. On a typical night, the drive is only about 25 minutes, but about 8 minutes in, it started snowing. A lot. Before I knew it, I was white knuckled on the steering wheel and making my way up the street in almost zero visibility. Fun times.

Luckily, I made it safely to and from the restaurant, as did my friends, but I quickly remembered the horror of winter driving. Let's hope everyone else remembers how to drive in the winter so we're prepared when it snows on a weekday.

This morning was dry, but still way too cold for me. It made the 10 minute walk from the subway to my office highly unpleasant. Even though I was in a bad mood because of that walk, I tried to come into work without whining about the cold....but apparently, my face gave it away. Oops.

You'll notice, I'm not wearing a winter jacket in the photos below. I took these shots last week, so I wasn't completely out of line to be wearing this jacket. I'm not sure I'd be able to pull the look off right now though.

Why all of the black? I've been drawn to monochromatic colour palates lately, so what better colour to style than black, right? This was the first time I've ever put together a completely black outfit, and really loved how edgy I felt...but that might have been the faux leather pants, not the colour scheme, per say.

Thoughts on monochromatic outfits?

  1. I've never had to drive in the snow, but that sounds dangerous! There's something refreshing about an all-black outfit, and what makes it so interesting are the textures that you included--the shiny patent faux leather, the soft sweater, and those spikes on the necklace.

    1. Driving in the snow is dangerous, but for the most part, it just means that you have to be extra careful...and avoid it wherever possible.

  6. An all black outfit is always a good idea! I love the makeshift peplum from your sweater and your tank underneath. What a great idea! And your pants are just too perfect for words.
We haven't had much snow where I am yet but the weather report says it's a'comin'! Like you, I am not looking forward to my 10 minute trek to the metro in the mornings for work. Yikes!
