Cool and Cozy

It's a long weekend in Ontario, so I'm spending the day up north with friends instead of in the office. Does it get any better than that?

Things are good, but I do wish the weather would improve. Because this past winter was so brutal, the general feeling around here is that we deserve a great summer. Unfortunately, it's been anything but. The general pattern is that it's been unseasonably cool, and it rains almost every.single.day.

Since this is where I live and I try to make this blog a "positive" space on the Internet, I'm going to tell you what the good thing about cool summer weather is: summer sweaters.

I love cardigans and layering, as you already know. I have quite the collection of summer sweaters, but some years, it's too hot to wear any of them. It's nice to get some extra wear out of these pieces that can go unworn. I always feel like an oversized cardigan adds that extra "something" to an outfit.

Outfit Details:

Cardigan - Gap (New Version) // Tank - American Apparel (Same// Pants - Gap (Similar)
Clutch - Gap (Similar) // Shoes - Converse (Same) // Hat - La Vie En Rose (Similar)

UGH - can you tell this is a defence mechanism?? BRING ON THE HEAT!

  1. Great look! I'm loving the print on those jeans. It's been a hot summer here so I'm kind of jealous you get to wear summer sweaters! Ah the grass is always greener ;)

  5. I am jealous of your summer sweaters. I haven't really touched a sweater in months. I'm wearing a lightweight 3/4 sleeve one today and I just might die of heat irritability. I'm being dramatic but you get the picture.

    1. Oh, it's been raining a lot here too. Just today our plans got a bit screwed up because of a torrential downpour.

  11. Such a great look! I love the colors in the pants and the cardigan compliments them so well! Sorry you have had some bad weather. It really stinks because we all deserve great weather after the horrendous winter. The summer isn't over yet, let's hope Mother Nature shines down on you soon!

  12. Ahh so I may be in the minority, but I think last summer's heat wave was ridiculous so I'm actually glad for the occasional breeze this summer. And, like you said, the great thing about cooler summers is summer layering. That cardigan is so perfect and ahh don't get me started on the pants!! LOVE the colors and the print!!

    1. It sounds like a lot of people are happy with the weather this summer, but I love when it's so hot that you feel like you're dying of heat stroke after stepping outside!

  14. Those pants are fabulous! And loving the summer sweater. It secretly has me wanting fall (just for the chunky knit sweaters! I don't like that fall means winter is coming..)

  18. I know the grass is always greener on the other side, but we're having a serious heat wave in Vancouver and I miss wearing a light sweater! Fall clothing is my fave--oversized knits and booties so I'm kind of looking forward to a change in season ;)

  20. Ahh, I love this summer! I have loved that it hasn't been hot (I'm aware I'm in the minority!) and that I don't sweat the minute I step outside. My makeup has stayed on, my hair has stayed somewhat decent, and I don't have to have the air conditioner on full blast everyday. But maybe it's also because I'm from South Carolina originally and a mild summer is non-existent. Heck, I just love cooler weather. The fact that we can layer practically year-round this year has been icing on the cake for this layer-lovin' girl. And you did it fabulously here! Lovely! :)
