Food for Thought

It's Sunday and it's raining. I'm not impressed, Mother Nature!!

I always feel ripped off when an entire weekend in the summer is overcast and rainy. It's like a wasted opportunity to get out and enjoy the (short) summer season.

Summer just goes by so quickly, and we really only have a handful of weekends to enjoy. With Back-To-School campaigns and fall clothing being launched earlier each year, it's not surprising that most people complain that summer doesn't last long enough.

I've always thought that the reason summer seems to fly is because most people enjoy the weather so much. I just assumed that winter seems to drag on forever, since it's so awful.  What doesn't make sense is that some people I know prefer fall to summer, and they still feel as though it goes by too quickly.

Do you think one of the reasons we feel like summer goes by too quickly is because we jam pack our schedules?

Think about it.

Do you already know what your plans are for the next few weekends? While I don't have my entire summer planned out this far in advance, I have activities planned all across the summer. Anything from races to cottage weekends, to concerts and festivals, there's a lot to do at this time of year and they're usually "events" that you know about in advance and look forward to.

Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it?

If this is true, it doesn't make me want to purposely avoid making plans during the summer months, but it's an interesting perspective.

Let's make the most of it, shall we?

Photos of me were taken by my friend, Tracy. All other photos were taken by me.

  1. I love your bag! I think you're right. As a kid, I always thought summer was too short because the deadline of school was looming in August.

  5. I like it when it's overcast, but I don't like rainy unless I plan to be home all day. I also find I prefer cloudy days for filming my YouTube videos since I film in the garden :)

  18. we had a very dreary weekend but it did allow for some slowing down and lazy hangouts on the couch, which is a nice change of pace for how busy summer has been!

  20. I totally agree with your reasoning about summer - I feel like it felt longer when I was a kid and didn't have anything to do or anywhere I had to be. Now that I'm in the real world with a job, the opportunities to enjoy the season seems so limited!
On a sartorial note, LOVE the outfit - the color of your tank is super cute and that maxi skirt was made for summer. Also - mirrored shades. Perfect!!
