Classic Combination

There's certain classic combinations that you just can't go wrong with.

Some examples:

Beer and pizza.
Summer and bonfires.
Peanut butter and chocolate.
White button down shirts and denim.

Classic combinations are considered "classic" for a reason. They just work!

Don't get me wrong, I love experimenting with the trendy pieces in my closet and remixing my basics in creative new ways. Then, there's those other days, when I just want to stick with the classics, like a simple button down shirt and jeans.

Button down shirts are great at this time of year, because they're light weight and great for layering. They're great on their own, or layered underneath a cardigan on those cool nights. For a large chested girl like myself, I prefer to wear my button down shirts undone, layered more like a cardigan.

Not only does an ill-fitting blouse not look great, but it's also dangerous. One wrong move, and that top button could go flying! For the safety of myself and others, I'll stick with the unbuttoned look.

Outfit Details:

Tank - J.Crew Factory (Similar) // Button Down - Gap (Similar
Jeans - Current Elliott (Similar) // Shoes - Jessica Simpson (Similar)
Bag - Stella & Dot (Same) // Necklace - Stella & Dot (Same)

What other classic pairs can you not get enough of this summer?

  1. You're so funny with the flying button! I can sort of relate to that. I love the versatility of a button down. Yours looks great layered over the animal print tank! :-)

  5. I love your combinations! Beer and pizza are def my fave! I have a problem with button down shirts too so either I have to buy a size up (which I hate doing because I loose the tailored look) or just wear them opened. I feel your pain girl! Love this look and your accessories ! That bag is killer!

  7. I like this. I feel self conscious when I button up a button up. Like, are people staring at my ....boobular area? Leaving them unbuttoned is much better!

  10. This look reminds me a bit of Kate Moss - she always looks perfectly undone... if that makes sense? The unbuttoned look gives off a very casual, effortlessly chic vibe that is Kate Moss-esque. Classic but far from boring. Love this look!
