Sometimes, I wish that I was a little bit more adventurous. I love trying new food and going to new places (sort of), but I'm just a girl who loves her routine.
This is something that I'm working on changing, but change is a gradual thing, isn't it? That said, the way that I'm trying to change this is by doing more, if that makes any sense.
I have an example that I can't share yet (it's exciting, I promise!!), but another example that I can share is that I've signed up for a Graphic Design course at a local community college, starting this fall. It's one class, once a week, but this is an area that I've been interested in for a while, so I figured, why not? In addition to learning a ton of new skills, I'll also meet a bunch of new people. Nerve-racking for sure, but exciting.
Most recently, I decided to get aboard the crop top train, even though I'm way too insecure to walk around, flaunting my midriff. I figured, there had to be a way to modify the crop top enough to feel comfortable to wear one in public.
I've been experimenting a little bit, and so far, my favourite way to wear crop tops is with a bit of layering. This way, you still reveal a bit of skin, but can feel covered up at the same time.
When paired with a skirt and my trusty cargo vest, I was set!
That's such a good idea...layering over crop tops. Of all the crop top outfits I've seen (a lot), I don't think I've seen it worn this way. You (and the outfit) look good.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! It seemed like a simple idea to me, but then again, I LOVE to layer!
DeleteGreat idea - layering with the crop! I'm kind of hesitant about showing my midriff as well (call it an occupational hazard - I work in politics!) but this is a great way for crop top newbs!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for stepping outside of your comfort zone with the graphic design class!! That's so exciting!

I'd use work as an excuse, but I just wouldn't EVER show that much skin. Okay, if I lost a few pounds, maaaaybe I'd feel differently.
DeleteYour outfit is fab! Everything looks great on you.

I love how you paired it with a high waisted skirt. Super cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the crop top and vest on you! You look awesome!

I think you're doing it right. I think modesty is underused in fashion sometimes and you're showing just enough skin to add interest to the outfit! Love that skirt!
ReplyDeleteNice post :))

I've seen military vests styled with skirts before, but I have yet to try it. I might have to soon!
ReplyDeleteLOVE how you styled this! The crop can be so intimidating but it helps when you pair it with a high waisted skirt!

So cute! Love it! I am not big on baring my midriff, so crop top + high waists work for me! Love the girly floral with the vest. Great look!

I love how you styled the crop top. It looks great with the vest too!
ReplyDeleteOmg those shoes, though! <333 I want a crop top so badly. It's ridiculous how much I want one. I think I just want to get all my wears out one while I still have the tummy for it. Haha. I like the proportionality they lend to certain outfits, too. I think you did a great job styling it here!

This is such a perfect summer outfit.
ReplyDeleteI am a habit of creature so change for me is in a slow process. Goodluck on taking a new course and keep us all posted. I like to try the crop trend train but I can't find one that really I really like and I don't like to show my stomach much. Also my son has issues with it, lol. He told me one time when I am wearing a loose type of top that is kind crop that he will burn it because it shows my tummy skin when i move around, lol. that's my son.

Your styling is urban chic and looks fantastic, very cute skirt. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on my last post. Have a splendid weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour Brandy Melville crop top looks so cute, I've bought many similar ones from Topshop over the past year! Being adventurous is much more difficult than people assume, however from my experiences I would say that routine can be even more poisonous! Have a lovely weekend! :)
