Date Night (Fail)

I'm a worrier by nature. Always have been, and probably always will be.

If I'm not worried, I worry about why I'm not worried. Seriously, it's a real thing, but contrary to how it sounds, I can assure you that I sleep at night.

One of the things I was worrying about recently, was what to wear on a blind date.

A friend of mine connected me with a friend of a friend, whom she hadn't actually met before. The two of us hadn't yet befriended on Facebook (still not sure if there's "etiquette" around that sort of thing), and had only a brief conversation, but we decided to meet up nonetheless. I wouldn't normally do that, but I figured he was a legitimate person, and we were going to a public place anyway.

Without knowing anything about him, I was left with that brutal decision of what to wear. It had been a while since I last went on a date, but I feel like it never gets easier to put together a first date outfit. You don't want to look too fancy or too casual. You want to look good, but not "tried too hard" sort of good. It also raises questions of whether to wear flats, or heels. OH, and then there's all of the other things you worry about, before going on a date...and after the date. Did he like me? Do I like him? What will our future babies look like? Okay, maybe not that last one...

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Cardigan - Old Navy (New Version) // Tee - Brandy Melville (Same) // Pants - Gap (Same)
Sneakers - Converse (Same) // Bag - Gap (Same)
Necklace - Boutique in Florida (Similar and splurge-worthy)

Oh, if you're wondering. The outfit was totally fine, but the date was less successful. We both felt we didn't have anything in common and would be better suited as friends. Back to the drawing board...

  3. I went on one true blind date back in high school. It was horrible! I feel like there needs to be at least some form of communication back and forth before going out or what you just described happens. Though I'm sure yours was still better than mine. He didn't tell me where we were going, so I had no idea how to dress. It was after dinner, so I had eaten already but he was hungry and ate practically an entire pizza in front of me. Then, the icing on the cake was that he wanted to go to Walmart and didn't even walk beside me but a good ten feet in front of me. I know we were awkward high school students, but come on! LOL! The best part of that date was it ending. ;)

P.S.- Worry warts, unite! I'm right there with you.

Totally feel you about the "what do I wear to this thing" situation. First dates are always nerve-wracking! That said, the outfit you're wearing in this post is so casual-cool! LOVE the chucks!

It's been a while since I've been on the blogosphere but I'm currently trying to catch up on your blog. I'll have a post up soon so hope you'll stop by!
