The days are short, and it's often raining or snowing. Then, there's the worst part - it's freezing cold!!
It's been pretty miserable outside this week, between the unseasonable cold temperatures and intense wind. Sometimes, I can handle having my coat off for a while to snap a few photos, but there's some days where no matter what you try, it's just not going to work.
Before the most recent cold snap, we did have one mild day, so I thought that was a perfect opportunity to head outside at lunch to snap a few photos. It was windy, but I didn't think it mattered too much.
After about 30 seconds of attempting to take photos, I realized it just wasn't going to work. My hair kept blowing into my mouth (gross), and the wind was making my eyes tear.
There were also several times that my hat literally blew off my head. One of these times, it blew through the park and I had to chase after it. Not fun.

Do any of my fellow bloggers have any insight, tips or tricks in how to overcome the elements at this time of year?

Poor hat! I love the purple necklace over the floral shirt! It's got me longing for spring.

This is probably my subconscious telling me that I'm ready for spring already!
DeleteI love your hat blown off--sometimes the outtakes can be just as good as the real photos we post haha. I accidentally left my purse today in an alley way where we were shooting. I got it back luckily, but still a scary close call! Love your sweater!

OMG. That sense of panic that must have rushed over you is the worst feeling. That's amazing that you found it!
DeleteI'm sure it was hilarious to watch me chase the hat down...more so than a purse.
I hold on to my hats for dear life when it's windy out, I usually take my pictures right next to the road and I get so scared it's going to blow into the road and get run over! I have a serious love for hats! Even with the wind the outfit is still so cute, loving that necklace!
ReplyDeleteI would literally want to cry if my hat blew onto the road and got run over. It's worth the struggle though. Hats are awesome :)
Deleteeven though it was difficult, you made it look good. So hats off to you :)

Thank you! You should check out Target or H&M. I bought this one at Target because I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but I've worn it a lot.
DeleteLove the necklace! I usually get SO lazy when it comes to planning outfits when the weather gets cold! I hibernate in sweats and pjs haha ;)
ReplyDeleteI feel like throwing a scarf on anything makes it work :)
DeleteLove the hat! Target is the best!!

These are such cute photos! I have a floppy hat that I can't really wear during this time of year because of the wind. I feel like only flat hats that frame your head stick. Lovely look too! xo
ReplyDeleteThe wind makes these pictures look really epic! I commend fashion bloggers who still take outside photos in the rain and snow---personally, I don't even feel like stepping outside some days, much less taking outfit pics!

I love this necklace! I'm curious about the weather, too! Does everybody really keep taking their pictures outside when its freezing!? I don't know that I'll be willing to do that, haha, but I don't have anywhere that great indoors to take pictures!

Windy days are the worst for outfit photos! You look adorable though, typically I just have a bunch of pics with hair in my face.

Ugh, I know! Wind can be so annoying when we try to take pictures! It drives me insane!! Oh and you are totally right, it gets so complicated to take outfit pictures during winter - that's why I haven't been able to post my outfits like I used to do during summer! But oh well, I still think winter is a beautiful season even though it has its downs. Oh and I love your hat! And your necklace! So pretty!!
