When I want something, I can't stop thinking about it until I get it.
Usually, it's nothing too crazy, but sometimes, this feeling applies to larger purchases. This week, I gave in to one of these "cravings."
....well, I actually caved and got a couple of things that had been on my wish list for a while.
1. Hunter Boots.
I've wanted these for a long time, so it's not like this was an impulsive purchase. Back in the spring, on a trip over to Buffalo, I decided that was the day to finally make that purchase. Unfortunately, my size 5 feet didn't allow me to come home with a pair that day. The only ones they had in my size were navy....and that was the only color I said I didn't want. I was upset that day, but then summer rolled around, and I got over it.
Now that it's September, the desire for those boots crept up again. I felt it was the perfect time to get a pair because I had a credit for a defective pair of sandals, meant the boots would only cost $20. Considering the store had my size, I had to get them!
2. DSLR Camera.
I know I mentioned that I was getting frustrated with my subpar point and shoot camera on the blog before.
I've been thinking about it for a while, and after doing a bit of research, I knew I had to get one. ASAP.
I ended up buying the Canon EOS Rebel t3i and even though I don't quite know how to use it just yet, I love it already! I ended up getting this one because I heard it was more user-friendly than the Nikon. I'm not sure if that's true, but when I played around with the camera this afternoon, I took some of the best pictures I've ever taken. I know they are only going to get better, so I'm really excited to play with it some more.
One of the first photos I took, and I love how this turned out! |
This is probably one of the most stunning photos I've ever taken. |
I wasn't quite dressed for an outfit shot, but I had to give it a try. |
Wahoo!! New boots! |
Seriously loving the details the camera captures...and the two bugs that made it into the shot by accident. |
I've never taken a photo that crisp inside before! |

My Mickee, who clearly just got a hair cut. Yuck. |
My Ernie, who apparently needs a hair cut! |
Getting a DSLR is so exciting!! Congrats. The photos you took with it are lovely. When I first got my DSLR, I watched about 1000 youtube videos to get the hang out shutter speed, aperture and ISO etc. Shooting on manual is SO much better than on auto and once you get the hang of it, the sky is the limit for your photos. Good luck! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI've been playing around with it a little bit, but I will definitely check out Youtube. It was helpful for figuring out how to attach the strap LOL
The picture quality is amazing! It's always fun when a blogger gets a great new DSLR! Congrats!

Luuucky you! I'm still using a point and shoot, and probably will be until I'm done with grad school and get a big girl job. Can't wait to see more of your photos!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are gorgeous! I've been wanting to test out that camera for a while. I love the gorgeous contrast in these new pictures. Also, I've heard great things about Hunter boots. It doesn't hurt its fashion cred that Atlantic-Pacific has a pair!

I have the canon that's just a step up from yours, and I love it! It was a chunk of change but worth the investment. I bought a cordless remote for it so I can take pictures of my kids and pets and not just me:) good job! Have fun. The book it comes with is worthless, try the youtube tutorials!

Ugh, I am so trying to talk myself out of a camera but I really want one! I'm torn between a nikon and a canon, you'll have to post an update as to how user friendly it is. Did you buy a tripod too?
ReplyDeleteI already had a tripod, so I was happy that it fit with this camera as well. I'm still getting the hang of it, but I think so far, it's really user-friendly. I chose the Canon because the guy at Best Buy told me it's more user-friendly than the Nikon. In my vulnerable state, I trusted him!! :P
DeleteYour dog is really cute:)
